The "Chrysanthemum Pattern" displayed on this fan is instantly recognizable. As the chrysanthemum pattern is in the form of a radial pattern, it is said to resemble the sun. In Japan, this pattern signifies immortality, longevity, and sound health. Furthermore, it is traditionally believed to ward off evil spirits. A Legacy of Traditional Craftsmanship
The "Engi Series Chrysanthemum" Uchiwa is meticulously crafted using authentic Japanese materials. It is made from bamboo grown in Kagawa Prefecture and features a Japanese Washi paper called “Tosa Washi”. Marugame Uchiwa is known as the largest Japanese Uchiwa fan producer. It has been recognized for its production capacity and various designs since the Edo period.
The quality of this craft is government-certified: Marugame Uchiwa fans were officially registered as Japanese Traditional Crafts by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in 1997. The red emblem on the package is proof that the Uchiwa fan has been handmade in Japan, which is certified by the Kagawa Prefecture Uchiwa Cooperative Association.
This fan is priced at ¥5,940. It weighs 30g and measures 355×180㎜. Please note that the size of each item varies slightly from one to another because they are all handmade.
